Jonathan Sterne from the NIHR Bristol BRC and Richard Wood, Head of Modelling and Analytics at Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (BNSSG CCG), discuss the new Health Data Research UK (HDR-UK) Better Care Partnership in the South West – a partnership between the universities of Bristol, Exeter and Bath and regional NHS providers.

The research will be based on the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) Systemwide Dataset, which for the first time links primary and secondary care data for our population of around one million people.

They describe the proposed research projects, and how they are evolving to address COVID-19 and its profound impact on the health and care system. They also discuss national initiatives to answer questions of importance to management of COVID-19 using routinely collected data.
