Interventions to improve patient outcomes after surgery

Co-developing interventions to improve patient care and outcomes after surgical procedures.

Theme Surgical and orthopaedic innovation

This workstream focuses on co-developing interventions to improve patient care and outcomes after surgical procedures such as joint replacement.

We have partnered with colleagues from the Mental health and Diet and physical activity themes to develop interventions that have been prioritised by patient and public representatives. We are co-working with local communities to make sure that our new interventions address the healthcare needs of all people who could benefit.

We are focused on getting patients as healthy as possible before surgery, improving their sleep and developing psychological interventions to help them deal with complications after surgery. The interventions we are developing are focused on digital technologies, accessibility and reach. Our approach is person-centred and guided by input from patient and public representatives.
