About this event
This meeting is for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) leads from NIHR-funded Biomedical Research Centres and Clinical Research Facilities to share our EDI strategies, learn what colleagues are planning in other organisations and consider how we might work together.
We know that data collection is a hot topic for all involved in research inclusion and so we are inviting abstracts for short talks highlighting practical approaches to collecting data from research participants, public contributors and staff.
Accessibility
We are committed to creating an accessible, inclusive environment so please tell us about any accessibility needs when you register. Accessibility information for the venue is available on their webpages and through AccessAble.
Talk abstract submissions
A key part of the day will be focused on talks from CRFs and BRCs highlighting examples of practical approaches to data collection in any space, whether trial participants, public contributors or workforce.
Send a short abstract of your data collection project if you would like to present. Projects can be new initiatives which are just getting off the ground as well as more established or recently completed projects.
Abstracts should include:
- A brief overview of the project
- How practical it will be to deliver on a wider scale.
- The potential impact of the project
The abstract can be in written format (maximum 200 words); delivered pictorially or can be sent as a short video. We are looking for a wide range of diverse projects.
Abstracts should be sent to pa-brc@bristol.ac.uk by 28 June 2024.
Posters
We would like all BRCs and CRFs to bring an A1 poster (841mm x 594 mm) in portrait format representing the key elements of their EDI strategy (or their joint strategy where applicable). We have provided some guidance on the layout below but encourage you to be as imaginative as possible when creating these, while considering accessibility.
A sample poster template is available for you to download here: EDI strategy poster template
Do
- Keep text to a minimum
- Consider text size and spacing
- Ensure you have sufficient contrast between the text and background
- Include a heading with title, authors and affiliations
- Include descriptive captions for images
Don’t
- Overfill the space
- Use too much underlining – use italics instead
- Use long blocks of text
More information on accessibility for posters is available online e.g. at Yale.
